Design.
Pounce is a product of a project to explore how form relates to function. Wanting to create something that would hang as a Christmas ornament, I was inspired by a jumping fox. The pounce is captured in midair with playful anticipation. I used 3D sketches to model my design in CAD.
Manufacturing.
I cut the two halves of the mold on a Wood CNC Mill. I used a custom jig to align the two halves on the pattern board. A sandblasted finish softens the light as it dances around the aluminum curves. A remnant of the cast, the parting line hints at the separation between the fox’s legs and ears.
